Climbing trees in palazzos...
I'm aware I've been neglecting my blog lately but I really to intend to get back into it at some point. I've put more items up on ebay if anybody's interested, I've got the ebay bug since successfully selling those wedges :)
See if you can snap up this sheer nude blouse for a tiny price (it's starting at 99p!) or get THREE of my turquoise sheild rings in one lot!
I'll end this with two summery images taken last week by a friend at Tatton Park...

Wedges anyone?
Monday, 18 July 2011
Sorry it's been a while
Nah I didn't die or anything. Turkey was amazing, a well needed break from reality. If I was motivated, I'd post some pictures or something but right now I can't be bothered, oops :P I'm actually feeling pretty ill as I write this, on the last day of the holiday (I got back like a week ago!) I started feeling a bit sore throaty, and since returning home I've been okay, a bit sniffly here and there, but last night I got into bed and started feeling really achey and cold, and today I've just felt terrible. Despite this... I am rather happy as I received my address for my uni accomodation at the Uni of Sheffield! If anyone else is attending this year feel free to leave a comment. I have now realised how strapped for cash I am and all these deposits I'm due to pay very soon are going to drain my account completely. This is why I've permanently reduced many items in my shop, so grab a turquoise ring for £2.50! Also, those wedges are still going at £20, although I've had no interest so they're going to end up on ebay pretty soon...

In a bit
I know my posts recently have been really sparse but anyhow I'm off to Turkey tomorrow for some sun, sea and whatever else. Really exciteddd right now even though my flight isnt until 9pm tomorrow. I'll be back in a week, providing nothing happens to me. Peace out.

Recently purchased
lol at my copy and pasting of that body ;D
Next time you see me making some kind of unnecessary purchase just give me a slap. I cannot afford to keep spending the way I have been recently. But I always seem to find some sort of justification free delivery, half price. You know how it goes. I did however manage to get the vest, the shorts and those earrings from New Look for under £20, free delivery :) And the turquoise bracelets (excuse the teeny image, I was too lazy to take my own pictures) were half price from Topshop, I paid full price for the peace one but it was only £4. I also got a necklace half price from Topshop but I cannot find a picture of it anywhereee :(

I gots feathers in ma hair
I received my feather extension this morning and I was really eager to put it in. I thought it sounded really tricky to do but it's actually really easy (I did it) and you don't need to buy all the expensive tools that some sites insist on. I used a pair of pliers from my dad's tool box and a piece of thread for threading my hair through the ring, a few minutes (and two ruined rings) later, it was in place. Now I really want to buy more. These are all over eBay and if you google feather extensions, there are plenty of websites so shop around!

Considering...
selling a pair of tan wedges I blogged about a few months back. I thought I'd post this first to see if anyone was interested. I haven't had chance to wear them yet (I have tried them on several times indoors) so inevitably I've had my eye on another pair I want more, although I'd have both if I could as I love these, I just can't afford to do that.
They were bought from Select and are no longer available online. UK size 5. I'm going to sell them for £22 including all postage costs. I'll see if any of you lovely people are interested first before they end up on ebay haha!

an average trip into town...
...turned into me spending more than was neccessary :/ I knew New Look were having a sale so thought I'd have a browse but got caught up in all the different coloured basic tops. I'm currently in holiday mode as me and a few friends plan to book something really cheap last minute (yes we are thinking 18-30, lively, too much drink, too much sun, that kind of get away ha! Also, providing I can get someone to stay at home with my little doggy all week) So I got like two cropped t shirts, one white and one a lovely, mustardy yellow as I don't have anything like that, to go with my excessive amount of shorts I own lately. I got a few other bits too, all fairly boring, but the peachy shorts I'm wearing in one of my older posts were (much to my disappointment) reduced to £6, so I got them in white as well, summery! Now I really, really, REALLY, do NOT need any more clothes... I can justify a nice beach towel and another bikini nearer the time ;)
Now this is becoming a boring post with no photos so I'll leave you with a picture of the bikini I bought and definitely need to slim into, desperate gym workouts commence tonight!

a million years behind
I can't believe I only recently discovered Poladroid. I love film photography, especially polaroids and spent most of my A-Level manipulating colour in Photoshop and various other editing programmes, inspired by a polaroid project by Walker Evans. This little download is just amazing, so simple and so effective. So with a lot of free time on my hands once more, I've been turning all of my favourite images into polaroids, mostly personal ones to put on my wall but today I decided to transform a few of my New York images. I never even uploaded my New York stuff onto the internet like everyone else did when we returned from a 3 day trip (not enough time at all) in February 2010, hence the title as I'm only just doing it now. I was really disappointed with most of them, I think I had about 700 photos on my camera and the majority were crap, I blame being ill the whole time ha! So these are just some of the few I do like.

I love my new bag, I ordered it the other week and haven't had chance to post about it yet so thought I'd take the opportunity to now. I've fallen out with myself today after having one of those moments where you look awful in every single picture. I need to start going the gym again, I wish there was such thing as a leg reduction but unfortunately I was 'graced' with chunky legs and I can't seem to do anything to change them. Blah blah blah. Anyhow will probs wear this this weekend when I'm off out for a friend's birthday.
In other news, on friday (being the 13th) I was told I wouldn't be kept on at my job at Peacocks, I was only temporary anyhow but you know when you're just about settling in somewhere and then you find out its coming to an end, that's a bit gutting. Back to the wonderful process of finding another job. I can't wait to just get to uni and actually have an excuse to be unemployed for a while ;) So this week I vow to make the most of the last of my staff discount, I bought this bandeau because my trusty Miss Selfridge is fading to grey :( it's not as good but it was less than half the price.

Things to do on a day off: make a mojito
Two posts in one day, woweee. I'm proper bored. Today is my day off (I've been spoilt with a three day weekend) I went to enjoy 2 seconds of sunshine which was quickly engulfed by dirty black rainclouds and followed by a storm. My dog is currently howling as I write this. I noticed the mint in my garden had grown so I went inside and decided to make a mojito. Here's my recipe:
For one mojito:
1 lime
A teaspoon or two of sugar, depending on your liking (I used honey today instead)
A measure of rum, dark or white (e.g. Bacardi. I used Havana Club) also using vodka is a good alternative
A sprig of fresh mint leaves
A couple of ice cubes (enough to crush and fill the glass)
Soda/Sparkling water (although when the ice melts you don't always need it)
I don't think there's any right or wrong method, it's basically a chuck it all in and mix it up kinda drink. I used my food processor to whizz up the ice into a nice crushed consistency and put it in a tall glass. I cut my lime in half, used a juicer to squeeze all the juice out and poured this into the glass. I also juiced the other half in the same way but left two slices of lime out for garnish. Then I poured in the rum, I never measure, I'd say a shot if you want to be specific but whatever works for you. Put the sugar (or a good squeeze of honey) into the glass and add the mint leaves. Then use a spoon or cocktail mixer and push it to the bottom of the glass and pump it about so you mix everything up. That's about it, you can now use the soda water to top up if you want to and then add the lime wedges and a little sprig of mint leaves to make it look pretty.
Btw I'm totally not an alcoholic, drinking at this time of day ;) like that facebook group says 'Alcoholic? I believe it's pronounced drinking enthusiast'
walking on a dream
The headband I'm wearing is from Peacocks (obviously) been spending all my wages in store, as soon as we get a delivery and I see new stock I like, I make a mental shopping list in my head. It's been a 40% off week this past week so I've bought too much, but at least saved myself some money.
I've now posted the rings to everyone who ordered. I hope they arrive safely and you're pleased with them!

Sleeveless shirt - Peacocks
Shorts - New Look
Shorts - New Look
I think this post is a bit of a cheat because the photos are crap but hey ho, today's my day off and I thought I better keep things fresh on the blog. Work's been knackering and social-life stealing but it's getting alright now because I'm doing 4 hour days, a blessing in comparison to the 9 hours I was doing almost everyday during the first week. I am however getting into the swing of things, and enjoying myself so far. We've got some really nice stuff in tbh, and I treated myself to this shirt (along with a pair of sandals) with my staff discount. I can't wait for the 40% off (friends and family exclusive) week coming up, I'm going to blow my wage in one mere shop. Currently developing 'tannorexia' since discovering St Moriz ;) it sorta flatters my hideous chunky once white areas... Ta-ta for now!

Just to let you know
Rings are available to buy now but you'll have to bear with me whilst I get them posted as I'm so busy with work atm. I've been doing 9 hour days for like a week but being eased into nice little 4 hour shifts now so I should hopefully find the time to get any orders packed and posted.
Also, I just want to make clear that postage on items is included in the price you see. And for the time being, I do not post anywhere other than the UK, sorry. I don't offer returns unless the item arrives damaged, in this case be sure to post the broken items back to me and I can offer a refund or exchange.
That's all for now but as I said, be patient, they will get to you eventually :)

Shop: The Magpie's Nest
I thought whilst I'm still here I'd put up the link to my shop. Take a look around. My prices will include postage costs. The items are listed as 'Coming Soon' for the time being as I'm going to busy for a while I'm not sure when I'll be available to get them posted. Hope you like what you see!

Sorry for the poor quality of these photos, silly temperamental camera and I just couldn't be bothered today but I thought I'd post something because I start working tomorrow and will be quite busy for a while I imagine. The shorts I posted in my 'Recent Buys' ended up being the wrong size and then out of stock which is a shame I know but it meant I could justify myself buying these lovely soft paper bag shorts from New Look, which I bought with my 20% off voucher before it ran out. This meant they were around £14 instead of £17.99 which is rather good in my opinion. I also really need to get round to doing an outfit post with the rest of the stuff in my recent buys post, along with getting the shop stuff up and running and student finance, so very busy busy! (biting my nails in stress) A little bit gutted that I'm going to be working so much when the Easter break has begun and all my friends will be back from uni for a couple of weeks, so I hope I have a day or two off. Until next time...

Black Kimono Cardigan - Select
Ladder Stitch Top - New Look
Definitely need to go on some sort of strict spending ban after this. I always say this but this time I really need too. It's just so hard not to browse sites and shops and see things you love. I've only got the top so far as I recently ordered the rest. I justified the shorts as they were £11.50 in the Ark sale, which I think is reasonable. I didn't do it intentionally but I think these would all go well together with a tan belt and some interesting jewellery.

Making Progress
Today I made the online shop for my jewellery (also hats) that I'm going to be selling. Quite exciting but I hope not to be too disappointed if I don't get much interest. I'm still waiting for the stock to arrive though, so I'm yet to do final pricing, photos and packaging. I do hope people will be pleased by what they see :)

lost and found
Customised playsuit - Primark (over a year or so old)
Belt - Primark
Belt - Primark
Recently found this hiding in a dark corner of my wardrobe, it still had the tag on; £13. There's a reason why I've never worn it, it was far too big at the top and was so low-cut that it gaped, revealing far too much... It also had little puffy sleeves and to be honest, me and puffy little sleeves just don't get on. I know I must have bought it because I love the print and after a few little customisations I know I'll be wearing it from now on. I don't know why I didn't do it sooner, but all it took was a little stitch put cleavage area to close the gaping material and snipping off those sleeves (admittedly I made a bit of a pigs ear out of that and it looks a little rough around the edges but the hair hides that enough) Now all I need to do is tone up those ghastly white thighs and get a bit of a tan.
I haven't posted in over a week, I've been online loads but I've just been a bit lazy. I've had this cold and congestion for over 2 weeks or so and I'm currently deaf in my left ear so I'm feeling a bit out of sorts, I hope it goes soon. I have been going for runs recently in an attempt to clear my sinuses and to get my fitness levels up, can't say it's worked so far...

can't wait for summer
Plain black vest - Dorothy Perkins
Necklace - Miss Selfridge
Necklace - Miss Selfridge
I bought this floral skirt yesterday for £12 and I was in two minds about whether it was worth it or not, I didn't try it on and just hoped for the best. When I tried it on at home I was so glad that I did buy it because I think it will be fantastic to wear in the summer, styled as above. It has a thick black elastic waistband which shapes your waist nicely. Will probably wear this in the summer with a pair of tan brogues and a bit of a tan to match ;)
Also, watch this space as I'm going to be selling some jewellery in the not too distant future...

Rehearsed steps on an empty stage
I'm basically only doing this post because I was trying out my new lipstick :P I previously had a 17 (boots) lipstick in 'Hot Chilli' which had a sort of coral tone to it but I wanted something a little bit darker so I the other day I bought a Collection 2000 one in 'Ruby Red (3)' It feel a little bit sticky, so I let it dry a bit before I applied some lipcote to seal them, but I bought it because it was two for £5 and I needed some bronzer too. Overall it's not too bad, I'm wearing mostly liner so that it wouldn't feather around the edge. I'm wearing the same shorts as yesterday, I haven't worn them in ages and forgot how comfy they are even if they are rather short.

Hello. Here's what I've been strolling around in the sunshine in today. I love this jumper, it almost reminds me of the ones in New Look at the moment, here, but with more of an interesting pattern. I think it'll be great for spring if we have more weather like today, it keeps you warm but at the same time you get a nice breeze coming through the little holes :P I picked it up in a lovely little shop in Lancaster called The Vintage Shop and it was only £7, awesome.
Despite the weather being quite rainy, Georgie and I had a really great weekend in Lancaster, visiting friends and looking around the uni. Just a bit typical that the sun decided to show it's face on the Sunday we went home. I'm off to the gym tonight because I feel really guilty for the amount of alcohol and calories I've consumed over the past few days! Hope you all had an enjoyable weekend too and a big hello and thank you to all my new followers, pretty amazed at the rapid increase lately!

Hair!
These pictures were meant to focus on the hair since my eBay hair extensions arrived today, but in fact you can't really see much difference. I can however feel the difference. My hair is quite long already and my main reason for trying out extensions was to achieve more volume and thickness. When I opened them my initial thought was that they're quite thin and weren't going to do a lot. So I put them in and they were longer, I might have kept the length had the ends not been so sparse, so I trimmed them to a little longer than my own hair. When I put them in after this I noticed that my own hair blended with the extensions a lot more, I curled and styled the ends to disguise them even more and overall I'm rather pleased. What I hated about my own hair was the fact that it looked quite thin at the ends at the back but now that's not the case. I know they're not the best quality (at £11.99 for 16" half a head you get what you pay for) but for me they do the job and I'm actually happy with my purchase. Has anyone else ever bought eBay extensions or know any other good places to get them?
Also, look how cute my sleepy dog is!

[insert fitting title here]
Hiyaaa. Well today I would've done an outfit post but unfortunately my camera has been fustrating me again. Today I had a little spend which I really, really shouldn't have but I did. I bought this navy peter pan collar jersey dress in the New Look sale for £8. I'm not totally convinced atm (sale items are non-refundable), sure it looks okay on the top half, but you know when you either love something straight away or you don't. It's incredibly comfy to wear but I'm just not sure whether it looks okay and suits me. I also bought a pack of two plaited belts. I've been after a tan one for a while and this came with a black one as well so I decided to go for it.
RIP Primark Loafers I am gutted to announce that after merely a few weeks wear, my tan Primark loafers bit the dust. I don't know whether it was the quality or more due to the fact that I have shoe-destroying feet, seriously. Don't get me wrong, I think these loafers look fantastic and are a great price but within the first wear the tassles came off and the tan material became watermarked. Then, after a couple of nights out on the town they became well and truly ruined, the soles came away from the shoe itself, so I gave up and threw them in the bin. Perhaps it was my carelessness, I just don't know but all I know now is that I'm again on the hunt for another pair of loafers.

Chiffon overload and a few updates
Oversized chiffon shirt - Primark Chiffon shorts - Primark Belt - Primark Bag (used as clutch) - Vintage |
In other news, I attended an interview the other week thinking nothing was going to become of it as I'm pretty used to rejection - I've been looking for a job for months and months. Yeah so Friday I found out that I got the job as a sales assistant at the new Peacocks store in our area. Great news although it's only a temporary position for up to 6 weeks, I'm just going to try my best and hope that they decide to keep me on. I need something right up until I go off to uni. I might not have any new posts for a little while longer as this weekend I'm off to Lancaster for an applicant day and to see my friend there.
Also, please check out my good friend Georgie's blog. She's new to the blogging community but she's sure to be one to follow :)

Sorry for the lack of posts. This week has been both busy yet lazy. I've had an interview, nights out, organising stuff and being stranded oh and also a bit of a hefty cold so hopefully I'll be back on track sometime in the near future. Watch this space...

Pale ting
I hate my camera. For some reason unknown to mankind my pictures are turning out grainy and very disappointing. Bit of a film effect going on. My hair is hideous today but whatevs. On a better note I managed to get my nose ring in, I tried a couple of weeks ago and it seemed impossible but today it went in as easy as anything. My top is from Primark, as are the very ancient shades (I know it's not sunny but who cares?) The camel trousers that you can barely see are Miss Selfridge. I was going to take a shot of my rings but they aren't that exciting so it doesn't matter :P Bonsoir!

I will always be the sun and moon to you
Firstly I'd like to get a few things out of the way. First outfit post, yeah wow haha. I've been faffing around with my tripod for a long time and there was no hope, so I've been wondering for ages what I could rest my big bulky (and really shit) camera on, and then I looked at my printer ontop of my drawers in my room and bingo. I wasn't after perfection and this was the best I could hope for. Secondly I'd like to point out how shocking these images are. I'm not exactly sure why my camera is so awful but there you go. Also, I am aware of how awkward I look in these but nevermind. Lastly, I'm trying to grow my fringe out because I can't be bothered with the upkeep so I'm having difficulty trying to make it look nice whilst keeping it out of my eyes. Any suggestions? Apologies done, now onto my attire:
Oversized chiffon shirt: Primark

wanted
Rusts, tans, camels and deep blushes. These are the colours I'm on the lookout for at the moment. I've been doing a bit of internet-window-shopping and typically whenever I really can't afford to spend there are a dozen things I want to buy (and when I do have money, I can never find anything I really want!)
I'm a big fan of plain staple pieces in this season's shades, they can be so versatile and can be put together with all kinds of different outfits. I really like Topshop's sleeveless shirts (like top right) and if I could, I'd have one in every colour. Then there are these floral sleeveless chiffon shirts I spotted from Miss Selfridge, I think the darker one is my favourite. The camel skirt is from Ark which is also available in black and burgundy, and yeah I'd buy all three of those too, they're really pretty. Finally, those wedges - I think I really need those (or maybe a slightly cheaper alternative to suit my budget) for summer, I think I'll be able to justify buying them with the fact that I think they'll go with a lot of things.
I now realise that making a wishlist is unhealthy, it's made me need to buy these things even more!

Don't mean to be giving the camera evils but my smile just wasn't working today. It's just one of those daaaaays... you know. Yeah so I went into Manchester yesterday for a bit of a shop, we were mainly supposed to be going to China Town to see the Chinese new year celebrations but I used it as an excuse to have a browse binge round Primark. I say browse but I had a bit of a minor heart attack when I got to the till. Always the way, you think you're putting in things at a good price (though I have to say it's getting more expensive) and then it all adds up! I didn't get that much but I still treated myself. I intend to do a post showing the stuff I bought, just incase anyone's interested ;) In fact, you can just about see the playsuit I bought in that photo. So yes, I will try to be a better blogger...

It's not fair
I randomly found myself watching Lily Allen's Not Fair video the other day (as you do...) and not only do I love this video for it's resemblance to Dolly Parton's Jolene video (ha I love this song, bit of a guilty pleasure), or for the awesome jumpsuit Lily wears, but for her hair! I found myself lusting over the length and the bluntness of her fringe so much that it made me want to get extensions just to achieve the perfect length and thickness. I'm trying to grow my hair to a decent length, its just about resting on my bosoms at the moment, but I find that the ends get too ratty no matter how many trims, and my hair isn't quite as thick as I'd like it to be! I didn't really like the idea of having extensions, it just made me think of being back in year 10 or 11 with the 'chavier' crowd gluing them in and getting bald patches from removing them, but I'm definitely looking into getting some, though I think I'll just stick to clip ins ;)
